It is determined here whether the resource has capacity limits or whether this must be considered during the calculation. This must generally be deactivated for external resources, except for ones with plannable capability.

The resource limit is determined from planned capacity / day x number of machines/persons, the daily plan, and the factory calendar.

Note: This option can only be changed with an APS license, because the APS only accepts calculation types considered by the capacity limits.

If active, this resource will be considered in automatic optimization.

If this resource is to be considered, this option has to be enabled additionally in the Resource group – Resource optimization and at alternative resources, as well.

Planned capacity can be influenced by

- Priorities

- Shift schedule of the resource

- Shift schedule of the resource group

- Shift calendar

Planned capacity cannot exceed 24 hrs/day. If in shift schedule for resources or resource calendar a start / end time is defined, the planned capacity is at most the period between start and end time.
Example: Start 8:00, End 14:00 Maximum time for scheduling: 6 hours.

Note for available planned capacity for an operation:

The max. number of hours between start- and calculated end are available for an operation.

e.g. 15 hours day, shift start = 8 o'clock, shift end = 16 o'clock

Means, max. 8 hours are available

Exception: Amount of the machines / persons is higher than 0 and defined in the operation, so that all resources can be accessed.

Capacity planning

Use this option, to define a kind of resource group without a detailed planning of the elements. A resource can represent a group of machines (e.g. 5 milling machines) or a group of workers (e.g. 5 technicians). To do so, enter a number greater than 1.

Example: 5 employees are working on one machine. They are not planned separately -> enter 5

The resource represents a person who can work in parallel on 5 turning machines -> enter 0,2

The field "planned capacity" and "Number of machines / persons" are multiplied, resulting in the total capacity of the resource. (s. resource scheduling calendar)

In capacity planning, only one machine from the group is dispatched to minimize set-up times. If you want to prevent this, enter the group with only one machine but with the corresponding multiplied planned capacity.

If a resource does not have a shift plan assigned to it, the system checks if this resource is associated to a group of resources and reads the shift plan from the resource group.
