Description

Gross calculation

If long-term forecasts must be calculated with complex assembly structures, the calculation can be time and resource consuming.

As for long period calculations results exact to the minute are not necessary, a fast mode of calculation is provided here: gross calculation. The material requirements is determined using the function "calculate resources" and must not be broken down at the time of the calculation of the purchase recommendation any more.

With this calculation method the assembly structure is broken down completely. Requirement coverage calculation is not available, but balance calculation is.

Example

Finished part "A" - semi-finished part (storage related) "W" - purchase part "P"

stock "W" = 2 pieces

requirement "A" = 5 pieces

Net requirement calculation results:

A = 5 pieces, W = 5 pieces, purchase part "P" = 3 pieces, because W is covered from stock (requirement coverage calculation)

Gross calculation

A = 5 pieces, W = 5 pieces, purchase part "P" = 5 pieces, because no requirement coverage calculation is performed.

Resource scheduling (MRP2) is based on lead time calculation. Therefore  "gross calculation" must be deactivated if resource scheduling is required.

Item setting "order multiple" is not considered. Order related assemblies are not displayed (they have no effect on balance calculation)

Important:

If this method is activated, then the material requirements must be calculated  first for all assemblies concerned, or after greater changes.

See: Calculate resources

The function should be activated only for extensive long period forecasts.

The function per default is deactivated.

Calculate Resources

Only active if Gross calculation is enabled. The material requirement can be calculated in advance for assemblies with this option.

See: Calculate resources

SCM Forecasts consider

Only visible if SCM is activated in this database. If enabled, order recommendation considers forecasts from SCM.

Note: setting in Configuration wizard > Materials Management > MRP Wizard > Forecasts > Forecast consider > like planned customer orders is not taken into account. SCM forecasts are always considered based on the SAP Business One Standard.
