The window to be edited should not be closed while being edited in the Item Placement Tool.
The field to be edited is marked with a "frame" and is highlighted in the Item Placement Tool (line 4 in this example) and the details of this field are displayed to the right of it.
The window to be edited is displayed with a yellow background which indicates that it is in "edit mode" (See image above)
If a setting is changed in the Item Placement Tool this is immediately visible in the original window. Automatic preview is not possible. To create the correct result, click "Refresh window". In the original window the default color is displayed and can be edited and checked normally.
When clicking on the Item Placement Tool window, it automatically comes into focus and the original window automatically returns to "edit mode".
Moving / Resizing a field
Change the mode to "edit mode" (yellow background) in order to move a field.
You can only move or resize the element which has the actual focus (big border).
Moving an Object: If the element does not have the large border, hold Ctrl and double-click on this element.
If the top left corner from the border of the moved item inside the other item, the system places it on the bottom of the other item.
If only the bottom left corner of the border of the moved item is inside the other item, the system places it on top of the other item.
It is also possible to move a field with Key Left/Top/Right/Button.
User Defined Fields (UDF)
Unlike in SAP Business One it is not possible to define one's own UDF's in Beas. However, in most windows UDF1 to UDF4 of the type: "string" are available, furthermore also UDF5 to UDF15 e.g. in Bill of Materials, work plan, article version, and many others.
Special feature UDF1 .. UDF4
These are defined in the setup wizard and are immediately active and correctly positioned in all corresponding windows.
UDF1-4 are area-related and not window-related e.g. Routing Position: These are relevant for "Routing Catalog", "Routing" (List and edit window), Work order routing plan (List and edit window), as well as Precalculation. Formatting and definition of further properties is done directly via the setup wizard and also stored in the setup wizard. Definition of user dependencies is not possible.
Example: Configuration Wizard > Bill of Materials > Definition UDF1–4
1. Click on the (1.) New item button.
2. Select the type: Column, text, Compute (= formula field), button, bitmap.
3. Insert all needed parameters (Userfield, Title or other related to the type) and click on one of the (2.) Top/Right/Left/Bottom Buttons to move it to the desired window section:
4. A pop-up message is displayed:
Click Ok and the window changes the color to "Click" mode:
The original window changes the color and is in “Click” Mode.
Click on the element, on which you want to place your new element.
Do NOT click on label. Click on the element (the edit field) if you place a new column top/bottom of another column, then click on the edit field and NOT on the label of this field.
The system displays the new element directly and you can change additional properties of this new field.
Limitation:
This works only on simple forms. Sublists, windows with different subforms or ribbon bars are not changeable.
|
You can only select the field which is currently visible in the view.
You can choose the item in the drop-down list or via Ctrl+double-Click in the related window.
NOTE:
If Edit item placement tool window is not opened and you make a Ctrl+double-click on an item, the system opens the tool window automatically and allows you to change this item.

Using template fields
In some windows Templatefield1 .... Templatefieldx are available. These sometimes have different lengths and types. These fields are not linked to the database and can be used for a wide variety of purposes.
They can be integrated in the same way as UDF fields.
However, loading and saving must be defined individually. This can be done via Validation Configuration – Event: select "Form Load" / "Form Add" / "Form Updated" from the drop-down.
User-Dependent Definition
There can be more than one configuration, e.g. user-dependent go to: User
All configurations that fall under the user rule and are active are always considered here.
If more than one definition exist, they must be opened via Right-click – beas Usability Package – Integration Icon / – Setup Overview. Here more definitions can be made or existing ones can be changed.

Boyum Style button design:
Note: If additional logic is behind the window, for example: "Bin location is only visible in case of bin managed warehouses", then this logic has higher priority than the definition set in the item placement tool.
