Field description of the Tool tab

Position
|
Consecutive number, but not a primary key. The list output is sorted by this number.
|
Tool
|
Tool key (selection from master data / tools).
|
Active
|
Checked if entry is active.
|
Description
|
Designation of the tool (cannot be changed).
|
Defines lead time
|
If enabled, the default times of the tool are transferred to the operation. In this case, the tool influences lead time.
Only values are used, which had been entered in "planning". Empty fields are ignored.
If more than one tool was stored in an operation and for both "determine lead time" was enabled, only one tool can be activated.
Activating or exchanging the tool is possible in Work order structure or in APS – graphic view.

Adding a new tool
To assign a new tool to the selected operation sequence, click on "Add line" under Routing > Tool tab and the following window opens:

Position
|
Field used to sort the tool lists from the routing. It is a consecutive number but not a primary key.
|
Tool
|
Field used to assign the tool to perform this operation. This field is mandatory.
|
Description
|
Field used to display the tool description. This field cannot be changed because it automatically comes from the chosen tool.
|
Active
|
Check box field used to set the tool as active in the routing.
|
Important: Tools that define lead time cannot be simultaneously active for the routing position. Only one of them can be active at the same time, but the active tool can be switched directly in work orders. The time information is copied to the operation. Therefore, the user must check one tool as “Active”; all other tools that define lead time are deactivated automatically.

A second row of buttons has been inserted here now. The top row of buttons relates to the tool list. Care should be taken here during processing.
General tab

Drawing Number
|
The technical drawing number. This field cannot be changed because it is read from the chosen tool.

|
Additional free text information on the tool entry.

Planning tab
This tab is only active if you have selected a tool with capacity planning.
|
|
Idle Time
|
Defines the time in hours after which the tool can no longer be used for other work orders (e.g. cooling, quality control, maintenance, etc.).
|
Next work sequence begins after idle time
|
If activated, the next work sequence can only be started after the idle time. Example: If the tool is a bin and this must be cooled before the finished product can be removed from the bin, the next work sequence can only be started after cooling.
However, if the idle time is for quality control of a tool, you can begin with the next work sequence immediately (i.e. switch deactivated).

Default Time tab
This tab is only active if the tool defines the throughput time.
If this tool is activated (only one tool can ever be activated which defines the throughput time), its throughput time information is copied to the operation.
Note:
Only fields are considered where entries have been stored in the tool. Consequently, you can remove all entries. Work step and use factor are only used if > 0.
Example:
Setup time of tool = nothing entered
Processing time in tool = 5 mins
Setup time is not changed in operation, thus it comes from tool.
Please make sure that you work the same way for all tools.
If a tool which determined the time is activated, it is transferred automatically to the operation at saving.

Setup time
|
Enter the setup time to start using the tool. Time specified per "Time per".
Important: This replaces the operation setup time when this tool is used.
|
Processing time
|
Set the time the tool takes to produce the items. This is the actual processing time per unit produced in the routing position.
The processing time for a unit of quantity per "Time per" in consumption unit per "Quantity per" finished parts.
Note: Secondary processing times cannot be specified here.

Quantity per ..
|
Defines the number of finished parts in consumption units during the processing time refers to, e.g. 10 minutes per 1000 kg.
|
Time per
|
Specify whether the time unit for the setup and production processes is hours or minutes.
|
Use Factor
|
Split the production time amongst more finished goods.
|
Number
|
Number of required work steps e.g. 10 work steps in "processing time".
|
Utility
|
Utility factor, e.g. 10 units are produced at once per step or hub and per processing time.
|
Cost Element
|
Set the account in which the standard costs from the usage of this tool is booked. Accumulated costs are written to this cost element.
