As a rule, configuring an item in the product configurator affects the bill of materials and the routing, respectively. In the sofa example, a three-seater will require more cover fabric than a two-seater.

For this purpose, any routing or bill of materials characteristic can store a formula, table, or the contents of a parameter.

Note:        

When using the product configurator, the parameter will usually be

accessed directly. However, you can also create formulas and tables

accessing the parameters of the product configurator.

Warning:

The formula syntax of the product configurator is the same as that of the installed SQL server. The variant generator uses the DataWindow syntax

In variant syntax, variables are delimited using [ and ]. In the variant generator, delimiters are not necessary.
