Pool Control

Pool control is a good alternative for a scheduling board. This way, manufacturing can be controlled manually without using APS. Based on priorities, time receipts and material stock, the pool control calculates which operations should be performed next on a resource. Using the pool report – accessible through logon/logoff  (terminal) – employees can log on or off their operations.

A pool is the operation queue for a certain resource. You can define the number of work hours which the pool can contain in the resource master data (Resource – Pool limit in hours). This indicates to employees that they must first process the most important work orders.

Priority

Before the positions are sorted in the pools, they are sorted according to priority. The oldest start date has the highest priority. The start date is determined according to the operation, calculated through capacity planning. This information is then aged by the pool days stored in production priority multiplied by the number of days stored in the Configuration wizard – Pooling – Multiplier.

Current pool

The employee always sees the current pool. These are orders that can be started, have the highest priority, and fit into the pool size. Instant orders are always in the current pool. The current pool is pool number 1. After it has been processed, pool 2 is activated as the current pool, etc.

Pool 0

This pool contains all routing positions which cannot yet be reported as the preceding reportable routing position has not yet been finished. As soon as the previous position has been reported, the position automatically moves from pool 0 in the next available pool.

Pool > 0

This includes all positions that can be started but that do not fit in the first pool. Generally, a daily recalculation (Pooling, Scheduling) is required to allow the most important positions to move to the active pool.

Manual changes

Using the Pool Structure Report positions can be moved manually from one pool to another.

Manual sorting is also available in the pool structure list.
