Flexible lunch breaks are used when employees must take a lunch break of a certain length during a certain time range and if they must clock this break manually. If employees do not clock a break or if the break is too short, then the difference to the plan lunch break is automatically deducted.
Examples:
Flexible lunch break from 11 to 14 h, length of 30 minutes
Employee logs off at 11:30 and logs on again at 11:45 h. 15 minutes is subtracted for him on this day
Employee does not log off during this time He gets a deduction of 30 minutes
Employee arrives at 11:30 h and works until 17 h No break is deducted since he did not arrive until lunch time
Employee logs off from 10:45 until 11:15 and leaves at 16 h He does not get a deduction since the lunch break is only verified if he is also present during lunch time
Employee logs off from 11:30 until 12:30 He does not get a deduction since his clocked break lasted longer than 30 minutes
Employee arrives at 9 and leaves at 13 h He does not get a deduction since he leaves during lunch time.
The flexible lunch break is calculated at the moment of time evaluation first. It is not displayed at manual time registration or correction for the current day.
Setup Flexible lunch breaks are defined in the Shift Definition . The shift allocation does not depend on an employee's logon/logoff
To determine the break, the shift that applies to the person on this day is used. If the automatic shift control is activated, the first clocking on this day is used that occurred after 0:01 h.
Example:
Employee logs on and off. Shift allocation "shift1". This shift allocation is changed manually by the office in this time clocking to "shift2". The flexible lunch break verification nonetheless accesses shift1 since this check is done independently of any clockings made.
Notes: Order clocking does not consider flexible lunch breaks since a "flexible lunch break" is nothing but a subsequent temporary time deduction, meaning that the orders continue to run during the unclocked lunch break. It should be examined if a fixed break time does not present the better alternative.
